Head softball coach Michelle Frew earns her 800th career win in the first game of 2019.
Rollins softball coach Michelle Frew earned her 800th career win at the helm of the Tars softball program on February 2 against the Chaminade Silver Swords. The Tars took the first game 2-1 before sweeping the second one 7-0.
Frew is entering her 23rd season as the head coach of the Rollins softball team, ranking as the 16th winningest active Division II coach. Frew was hired as the first full-time softball coach at Rollins and infused life into a program that had won only a total of eight games in the three seasons prior to her arrival. In her first three seasons, she led the Tars to 84 victories, including posting a 34-13 season in 1998 that garnered her Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year honors. Additionally, Frew has been twice recognized by the Rollins Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) as the Rollins Coach of the Year.
In 2016, Michelle Frew led the Tars to their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 11 years. Rollins earned a bid to the NCAA South Regional as the No. 6 seed and went on to win three straight games to claim their first NCAA South Region Championship.
