Laura van den Berg ’05’s latest short story collection, I Hold a Wolf by the Ears, has debuted to critical acclaim, topping summer “best of” lists at The New York Times, Esquire, Time Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and O, The Oprah Magazine. This is van den Berg’s sixth book and her first story collection since 2013’s The Isle of Youth.
An English major at Rollins’ Hamilton Holt School, van den Berg went on to earn an MFA from Emerson College. She is the namesake of the Holt School’s van den Berg Scholarship, which presented students with the opportunity to attend the National Book Awards in conjunction with Rollins’ longstanding Winter with the Writers program.
I Hold a Wolf by the Ears collects stories that teeter between uncanny and surreal, grounded in the realities of modern life and the omnipresent strangeness of womanhood. Read a full review of the collection at NPR.
