Longtime Winter Park resident, business owner, and Rollins alumnus Thor Falk '82 recently announced the launch of The Winter Park PRIDE Project, a not-for-profit corporation. The mission of the organization is to promote and celebrate Winter Park as a diverse and inclusive community where everyone is welcome.
The PRIDE Project’s 2021 initiative is to provide 1,000 residents with free flags to fly outside their homes during PRIDE month, which is celebrated in June. Fundraising efforts will cover the cost of the flags, and excess funds will be dedicated to organizations and programs benefiting LGBTQ+ youth and promoting diversity and inclusion in Winter Park.
Falk is in the process of assembling an advisory board for the Winter Park PRIDE Project and hopes to include members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies. The organization will be reaching out to Winter Park businesses and organizations for support and collaboration.
