3 Students Present at Florida Communication Association Convention

Two students who participated in Professor of Communication Ted Gournelous’ spring semester class, Intercultural Communication, took first and second place for their presentations at the Florida Communication Association 86th Annual Convention this fall.

Holt student James Gray won first place for his presentation “Revenge Makes Us Feel Good: Portrayals of Revenge in South Korean and American Films.” Holt student Shannon Conner Van Benthuysen took second place for her presentation “Perceptions of Adult Education and Students in the US Community Colleges and Further Education in the UK”.

Additionally, student Katie Rizzo ’17 and Lecturer of Communication David Painter presented work from their Student-Faculty Collaborative Scholarship project at the convention. Their presentation was “The Verbal Tone of the 2016 Presidential Primaries: Candidate Twitter, Debate, and Stump Speech Rhetoric.”
