Teymuroglu Organizes Session at Joint Mathematics Meeting

Associate Professor of Mathematics Zeynep Teymuroglu, along with faculty colleagues Joanna Wares (The University of Richmond), Carl Yerger (Davidson College), and Catherine Buell (Firchburg State University), organized a session on Mathematics for Social Justice during the 2017 Joint Mathematics Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The Joint Mathematics Meeting, a national meeting of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America, is the largest mathematics meeting in the US, with 6000 participants.

In addition, Yerger and Teymuroglu presented a talk entitled “Hard Conversations on Social Justice in Mathematical Spaces”, where they discussed how mathematics is culturally and socially relevant to today’s society.
