History professor Claire Strom has been appointed to the board of directors of two nonprofit organizations in Central Florida.
In January, the Board of Directors of the Downtown YMCA—where Strom serves as the chair of the community engagement committee—voted unanimously to invite her to the board. In February, she was asked to join the LGBTQ Museum of Central Florida because of her expertise in the history of sexuality in the American South. On this board, she will help the organization make its archives more accessible to the public. Strom anticipates that this project will result in internships and community engagement classes for Rollins students.
