On July 9, United Arts of Central Florida announced that Professor of Art Rachel Simmons is among 13 recipients of its Artists in Communities Grants.
Artists in Communities Grants fund projects by artists in literature, film, and performing or visual art. This is the first year United Arts awarded these grants, which are given to artists performing a services for or collaborating with the community.
Simmons was awarded $1,462.50 for Future Bear: Engaging and Empowering Youth Through Graphic Art. Rollins College students will teach kids ages seven to 12 about climate change and sustainability through a time-traveling polar bear and interactive card game.
