McLaren’s book makes New York Public Library list

The New York Public Library has named George D. and Harriet W. Cornell Professor of Philosophy Margaret McLaren’s book, Decolonizing Feminism: Transnational Feminism and Globalization as one of its “Essential Reads on Feminism.”

The list was compiled in celebration of the 19th Amendment—which gave white women the right to vote—turning 100 on August 18, 2020.

McLaren’s book collects essays by noted scholars and feminist theorists looking at feminism through the lens of globalization and the inherent power structures. Topics address the historical legacies of colonialism and post-colonialism, as well as the more recent concept of decoloniality.
