Coyle Receives Award for Clarinet Research

Rollins Assistant Professor of Physics Whitney Coyle recently earned first prize for her research on the physics of the clarinet at the International Clarinet Association’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida.

Coyle’s award-winning research paper, “Using an artificial mouth to measure tuning homogeneity,” focused on using objective means of measuring the instrument’s intonation.

With the first prize, Coyle was awarded $1,000 and guaranteed publication in The Clarinet, the association’s quarterly journal.
