Collins Joins The American Academy of Arts and Letters

Billy Collins, two-term U.S. Poet Laureate and senior distinguished fellow of Winter Park Institute at Rollins, was recently elected as one of 12 new members of The American Academy of Arts and Letters.

The American Academy of Arts and Letters is a 250-member honor society of country’s leading architects, artists, composers, and writers and it sees to “foster and sustain an interest in literature, music, and the fine arts.” Founded in 1898, early members include Robert Frost, Winslow Homer, Norman Mailer, Arthur Miller, Eugene O’Neill, and Georgia O’Keefe.
