Barreneche honored as a finalist for Professional of the Year

Associate Dean of the Faculty Gabriel Barreneche was honored as a finalist for Professional of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) and Prospera at the 20th annual Don Quijote Awards Gala December 9 at EPCOT. The Don Quijote Awards recognize businesses and individuals who are committed to excellence in their work and contribute to the development of the region’s Hispanic community.

A member of the Rollins faculty since 2003, Barreneche has taught courses on contemporary Latin American literature and culture as well as Spanish language courses.

Barreneche received his BA from Boston College and MA and PhD degrees from University of California, Los Angeles. In 2014, Barreneche was recognized with the Cornell Distinguished Faculty Award for his teaching, scholarship, and service contributions to the College.
