Rollins College and Jindal Global University sign agreement to collaborate on liberal arts and humanities education.
On Monday, Rollins College and O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) of Sonipat, Haryana, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on promoting liberal arts and humanities education.
A delegation from JGU is visiting Rollins this week to meet with administrators and faculty regarding curriculum development for this collaborative program.
“We believe we are on the threshold of making history with this landmark partnership between two institutions of higher learning whose academic collaboration stretches halfway around the globe,” said Rollins President Lewis Duncan. “We are especially enthusiastic about our shared commitment to the liberal arts and humanities as the foundation for educating our students for meaningful lives and productive careers.”
“The study of liberal arts and humanities is critical for strengthening democracy, understanding the history, polity and society, while promoting a pluralistic vision for India, U.S., and the world,” said JGU Vice Chancellor C. Raj Kumar. “The collaboration with one of the leading liberal arts colleges in the U.S., Rollins College, augurs well for fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the young India and also equips our students to collaborate with individuals and institutions globally.”
The Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities offers a multidisciplinary education that mixes the classical and the contemporary within a global framework. The first of its kind in India, the bachelor’s (Hons.) degree will solidify Jindal’s liberal arts and humanities program through an extended period of study at Rollins.
