  • High quality service to internal and/or external customers resulting in extraordinary customer relationships;
  • exceptional performance “above and beyond” normal job expectations;
  • innovation, creativity and initiative; and
  • extraordinary teamwork and contributions in support of fellow employees.

Mercy Gonzalez-Chavez, technical services coordinator for information technology, has served the College for 35 years. Embodying the criteria of the Crossley Award, she has dedicated her life to serving students, staff, and faculty.

The selection committee received numerous outstanding comments about Gonzalez-Chavez’s contributions to Rollins.

“She has positive working experiences with all of her co‐workers and has been a joy to work with. I believe she is someone the College can count on to help resolve issues, answer questions, and find the right person quickly.”

“I’ve never met a more dedicated employee or well-deserving Rollins advocate in my time on campus. She magnifies the cornerstones of Rollins’ mission each and every day and is always respectful and considerate to her colleagues and to our students while being one of the most responsive professionals on our staff.”

“She never complains and refuses to slow down. She is a guiding force for our students and comforts them as a parent would when they need advice or are frustrated with technology.”

She received $1,000, her name engraved on the Helen A. Ward Crossley memorial plaque maintained by the College, and a personalized trophy.
