Rollins College names the 2015 Alumni Award recipients.
Rollins College recently announced the recipients of the 2015 Alumni Awards, which will be presented by Acting President Craig M. McAllaster this spring. The event will take place during Alumni Weekend 2015 at Alumni Convocation on Friday, March 27 at 3:30 p.m. in Tiedtke Concert Hall.
Alumni Achievement Award
Acknowledges alumni who have attained outstanding success and national or international distinction in their fields.
Meg Gilbert Crofton ’75
President, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Operations (U.S. & France)
As president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, U.S. and France, Crofton provided strategic oversight of the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris. During her 35-year career with Disney, Crofton oversaw the opening of New Fantasyland—the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history—and helped launch both Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Dorcas Gilmore ’00
Law and Advocacy
Practitioner in Residence, American University Washington College of Law
When she represented the NAACP national office, Gilmore advanced the NAACP’s racial justice advocacy mission on issues of economic justice and provides corporate counsel. She also served as the director of community economic development, where she oversaw efforts to promote the creation and growth of small businesses, individual wealth building, and community assets building. Haile concentrates on patent protection with special technical experience in biotechnologies. She works with patentability, noninfringement, and validity options as well as FDA counseling, capital funding, and mergers and acquisitions in the life sciences industry. Read more.
Andrew Judelson ’89

Judelson oversees attracting partners to IMG College’s national collegiate marketing platform, for which he and his team have secured national partnerships with Keurig Green Mountain, Kraft, and other Fortune 500 brands. He is also responsible for U.S. business development for IMG worldwide. Judelson previously worked for WWE, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, Sports Illustrated Group, and NHL Enterprises. John Kavanaugh ’83
Music and Entertainment
Songwriter/Musical Director for Sofia the First, Disney Junior TV Show
Sherman Oaks, CA
Last year, Kavanaugh won a Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Song: Main Title” for Sofia the First. The song was also nominated for “Outstanding Original Song.” His music can also be heard in several animated films, including Disney’s Springtime with Roo and Nickelodeon’s Globehunters: An Around the World in 80 Days Adventure. He also composed the theme for the 2003 Special Olympics and has written songs for Sesame Street. Read more.

Stephen Miller ’09
Entrepreneurship and Business Consulting
Associate, McKinsey & Company
While at Harvard Business School, Miller was elected president of his cohort and listed as one of “The 27 Most Impressive Students at Harvard Business School” by Business Insider. He founded Tiggly, the first interactive toddler iPad toy. Miller also mentors Rollins students; he worked with a recent graduate to prepare her for a highly competitive McKinsey & Company summer associate position, after which she was offered full-time employment with the company.
Laura van den Berg ’05
The recipient of a 2014 O. Henry Award and the Bard Fiction Prize, van den Berg is the author of three books: What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, which was shortlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award; The Isle of Youth, which won the Rosenthal Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; and Find Me, which was released in February. Kurt Wells ’95
Wells was influential in launching the Alumni Association board of directors’ first strategic plan, which included the regional chapter initiative, Alumni Fox Day and the Rollins Alumni Network. Wells remains involved in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he serves on the regional council.
Tom Zapcic ’85
Red Bank, NJ
Zapcic received over 40 nominations for the Alumni Service Award for his efforts in coordinating his peers for the events honoring Phi Delta Theta during Alumni Weekend 2014. He continues to mobilize fellow peers for informal Rollins get-togethers and served as an Alumni Weekend volunteer for his 30th class reunion this spring.
