DeHart and Johnson Named to All-SSC Rowing Team

Sophomore Haddie DeHart and first-year Kelly Johnson earned a spot on the 2013 All-Sunshine State Conference Rowing Team.

Sophomore Haddie DeHart and first-year Kelly Johnson earned a spot on the 2013 All-Sunshine State Conference Rowing Team, it was announced Friday by the league.

Friday also served as the 2013 SSC Rowing Championship, which was won by Barry University.  The Buccaneers narrowly defeated the reigning champions Nova Southeastern by one point, 18-17.  Tampa finished third with 10 team points.  Rollins, along with Florida Tech, were the only two teams not to earn points, as they did not field boats in both races.

Rollins competed in the varsity 8, capturing a fourth-place finish.

Haddie DeHart was named to the All-SSC Rowing Team, along with Grace Horwitz (coxswain, Barry), Kristina Boncheva (Barry), Anna Boada (Barry), Monika Kaminska (Barry), Lauren Boudreau (Nova Southeastern), Amber Morrell (Nova Southeastern), Melissa Ciesieslski (Tampa) and Taylor Barvais (Florida Tech).

Kelly Johnson was named to the All-Freshman/Novice Team and is joined by Beth Desmond (Barry), Jordan Ursch (Florida Tech), Tori Torrisi (Nova Southeastern) and Ashia Bales (Tampa).

The Tars will now prepare for the biggest regatta of the season at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. on May 10-11.
