Briant and Lang Place First in Tricks at National Championship

This month, two Rollins College student-athletes were ranked No. 1 in individual tricks at the Collegiate Water Ski Association National Championships.

Two Rollins Tars, Joshua Briant ’18 and Erika Lang ’18, were named individual tricks champions at the 37th Collegiate Water Ski Association National Championships (NCWSA) in Cypress, Texas this month.

On October 16, Briant highlighted day two at the championship, winning the No. 1 spot in tricks with a score of 4,870 points. The Tars men’s team held steady in fifth place in the combined team standings with 5,775 points.

The following day, Lang took the national championship in tricks for the second consecutive year and recorded a new NCWSA national record of 5,960 points to outpace runner-up Elizabeth Montavon of Alabama, who received a score of 3,100.

Lang bettered the old national record of 5,510 that she set at last year’s national championships. The Tars women’s team finished fourth in tricks on day three with a score of 1,885. Overall, the women’s squad finished fifth for the second consecutive year with a score of 4,805.
