First-year student Annie Dulman will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
(Photo by Wayne Koehler) In the final round of the 2013 NCAA Division II Super Regional, freshman Annie Dulman pulled ahead of the competition shooting the second best round score of 70 to place her first and advancing her to the NCAA DII National Championship.
Dulman fired off a 2-under in her final round en route to earning individual medalist honors. The Palm Beach Gardens native finished 1-over-par 217 (74-73-70) and will now advance to the National Championship on May 15-18. The last time Dulman played on the LPGA National Course in Daytona Beach, she finished first at the Lady Falcon Invitational.
Hosted by Florida Southern at the Lone Palm Golf Club, Rollins finished fourth, missing the national championship for the second straight year. The fourth-ranked Tars turned in a final score of 912, shooting a 303 in the final round.
Lynn won the program’s first-ever south regional crown turning in a third round score of 297 to put them at a 900 total. Reigning national champions Nova Southeastern finished second with a 904 (298-306-300). Securing the third and final spot for the national championship was Barry as they turned in a third round score of 301 to put them at a 907 total.
With Dulman as the Tars’ top performer, Clara Teixeira finished tied for eighth with a 227, shooting a 77 in the final round. Teixeira was one of three vying for the final playoff spot but was knocked out by Kristen Sammarco as she birdied the second playoff hole to win. Teixeira also made 10 consecutive pars in her final round.
Momo Sakuragi carded a final score of 234 (78-77-79) to tie her for 25th. Kayla Sciupider fired a 79 in the final round to finish tied for 28th with a three-round score of 236. Four strokes back was Elin Marcsdottir as she tied for 34th with a 240.
Qualifying individually along with Dulman were Teresa Hernani of Lander and Kristen Sammarco of Armstrong Atlantic, who won the three-way playoff to advance as the third individual.
The national championship takes place on May 15-18 at the LPGA National Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
